Five held over cannabis factory

Police raided industrial premises on the outskirts of the village on Saturday and seized about 1000 cannabis plants. They could have produced drugs worth about £750000. Four men and a woman – Chong Cheng Xian Hu Awang An Yun Lin and Wenxia Dong – all in their 30s and of no fixed address were remanded in custody. They were charged with producing cannabis at the Broadmeadow Industrial Estate in Ecclefechan between 1 March and 22 May.
