Martin’s job status was unclear Tuesday. Calls to Gallatin County Chairman Randy Drone rang unanswered while calls to the sheriff’s department rolled over to a neighboring dispatch center which regularly answers calls when no deputies are in Martin’s office.

During the pursuit the Jeep’s passenger fired the assault rifle toward police but no one was hit. As the Jeep approached Willow Creek CHP officers set out a spike strip on the highway — a road that winds through mountains above a steep valley.

8-year-old student suspended about marijuana found

25 of a gram of marijuana. A police report notes that Eisenhower Elementary School administrators contacted authorities Friday after finding the drug. The report notes that the student was emotional and unable to provide officers with any information about the marijuana. The student’s parents were told of the incident which was referred to the state Department of Human Services. A DHS spokeswoman declined to comment on the case. Jennifer Wardlow says no arrests have been made in the case and that DHS did not take the student into protective custody.
