Bui Quang Huy 42 was earlier convicted of a number of drugs charges including intent to supply drugs. It follows a cannabis plantation discovered by officers in a former shop building in Cowdenbeath High Street in December 2007. Huy appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentencing. Det Insp Graeme Seath said organised crime groups were attracted to the commercial cultivation of cannabis due to its relatively high profit margins.

5 tonnes of cannabis in a desert region close to the frontier with Morocco the police said Thursday. It was confiscated on Tuesday near Erg Ferradj about 100 kilometres (60 miles) south of Bechar city it said. Men tape marijuana to bodies at San Diego border

Customs and Border Protection said today that San Diego inspectors apprehended 157 pedestrians crossing from Mexico with drugs under their clothing from August through February. That’s nearly seven times the 23 arrests during the same period a year earlier. CBP says smugglers typically tape packets of marijuana over their torsos. That’s not a new technique but it’s getting more popular at least in San Diego. Authorities seized nearly 300 pounds of marijuana from under pedestrians’ clothes during the last six months. CBP said all but 16 of the 157 arrested were male. ne of every four males arrested was under 18 years old.
