The decision is an inappropriate injection of political ideology into what should properly be a question of science. Pharmaceutical companies interested in making marijuana a prescription medicine are stopped dead in their tracks by the institute’s monopoly. If a company gained access to the institute’s tightly guarded stash spent millions on research and obtained FDA approval it would then be forced to pay the institute’s supplier whatever the asking price. As a result not a single company is investing in marijuana research. Thirteen states have been forced to turn to the political process to provide patients with the medical use of marijuana. Prompted by the DEA’s support for the institute’s monopoly that number will surely grow.

Fryeburg man pleads guilty to trafficking in marijuana

Preble III 65 of 104 Jordan’s Camp Road in Fryeburg pleaded guilty to aggravated marijuana trafficking. Another charge of aggravated marijuana trafficking was dismissed. Preble was sentenced to serve four years in prison concurrent with a New Hampshire sentence he has been serving since December 2006. Assistant Attorney General David Fisher said Preble sold a pound of marijuana to a confidential informant for $2000 in early 2006. He was previously convicted of a federal offense of conspiracy to distribute marijuana in 1988.

Police reported finding marijuana in the suspect’s sock and issued him a summons for possession. Mansfield — A 22-year-old man was arrested on a domestic violence charge Saturday afternoon. He reportedly struck his 22-year-old wife who had a cut and swelling behind her right ear. Police removed a rifle and a handgun from the residence.
