Mary’s Skate Park smelled marijuana smoke coming from a parked car around midnight Saturday, police said. Police arrived at the park, 610 South 1st Street, and arrested Christopher Wolfe, 18, of the 1600 block of Covington Court, who they said had three small bags of marijuana and a glass smoking pipe. Wolfe was charged with possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and released on $100 bail.

Bond is $15,000 for 55-year-old John Daniel Miller III, who remained in the Smith County Jail late Tuesday. Randal Hiller declined to release information on Miller, including whether he has an attorney following Monday’s arrest.

Officers seized cultivation tools including fans, timers, lights, wires and other associated growing material. Douglas Pare, 30, is charged with production of marijuana, possession of marijuana over 30 grams and failing to comply with an undertaking. Pare was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Valley County investigating two marijuana growing operations

One of the investigations is in the Fort Peck area, the other is in Nashua, said Valley County Sheriff Glen Meier. The first search warrant was served Thursday at a cabin at 19 Teal Road in the Duck Creek area near Fort Peck. Suspected marijuana and several marijuana plants were seized. Montana Highway Patrol troopers and a Fish Wildlife and Parks warden assisted deputies in the raid. , a search warrant was served for a greenhouse at 117 Sargent Street in Nashua.

Nearly 5000 marijuana plants seized

On Friday, troopers, with the aid of a National Guard helicopter, found another 4,700 marijuana plants growing in six plots in the Gallipolis Ferry area, according to Sgt. Starcher, detachment commander. With a street value of $2,000 per plant, that's $9,400,000 seized by the local agency.
