Police and federal investigators say they found 82 guns at two houses in Pataskala. Four men now face federal charges of conspiring in a marijuana ring. Police say they found $3. 2 million in the walls of a house where 39-year-old Donald Dailey lived. In a nearby trailer, officials say they found 2,100 pounds of marijuana. The maximum prison sentence for those convicted of supplying cannabis has remained at 14 years. Yet the number of suspects brought to court on dealing charges has fallen from 2,790 in 2003 to 1,994 in 2006, the latest available figure. The number given a prison sentence fell from 697 to only 279. More than a million people use the drug each year in the 16-to-24 age group alone, according to British Crime Survey findings, although it is thought the number of users has fallen by about 20 per cent since the law was relaxed.

Twenty-nine medical organizations, including the American Nurses Association, the American Medical Student Association and the American Preventive Medical Association, support allowing a doctor to prescribe marijuana to a patient. Eight medical organizations support patients’ access to marijuana with a doctor’s recommendation, including the Florida Medical Association, the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association and the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine.

Tanzania`s Kikwete wages war on cannabis

The paper said Kikwete emphasised the negative impact of cannabis
use on the youths as he pronounced the order during a rally in
Musoma, Mara district (north), at the weekend. He praised the engagement of the population in agriculture, but
deplored the cultivation of cannabis by some villagers, commended
the police for being successful in the fight against armed
robbery, the paper added. In an operation carried out last April, the Tanzanian police
seized 68 firearms, 221 kilos of cannabis, 853. 5 grammes of
heroin and destroyed two hectares of cannabis plantation.

According to the spokesperson of Benguela`s Provincial Police Command, Bartolomeu Caxota,
the amount of drugs, equal to 174 kilogrammes of cannabis, was seized in Ngolo village,
Chingongo commune in Balombo. He urged residents to collaborate with Government authorities, denouncing the areas of
production, sale and consumption of marijuana. The chief of Balombo, Bastana Djundo, who was present when the drugs were destroyed,
