Andre Londale Watene took the cannabis that Steven's flatmate handed over, along with $30. Then, in an act even his lawyer called senseless and pointless, he also took Mr Stone's life. Watene stabbed him in the leg and then in the upper chest, straight into his heart, even though the robbery was not being resisted. Mr Stone had seemed destined to represent New Zealand at lawn bowls.

The Vacaville operation on Weber Road harbored four separate structures and included a high-tech growing operation, packaging location and a camouflaged underground power supply, according to the CHP. Not much marijuana was found at the residence, but the operation “had facilities for several thousand plants which had been pulled from their pots,” CHP said.
