development of the drug. Otsuka, the discoverer of the antipsychotic medicine Abilify, and GW Pharma in July also agreed to collaborate on researching and developing cannabis-based treatments related to the central nervous system and cancer. GW Pharma is already screening molecules from marijuana plants for Otsuka, and the first potential products may enter very early clinical testing next year, said Justin David Gover, the managing director at GW Pharma. The agreement gives GW Pharma “a pipeline that is fully funded,” he said Nov. “We were wondering how we were going to fund the U.

“We also know that Id-1 has also been found at higher levels in other forms of cancer. So what is exciting about this study is that if CBD can inhibit Id-1 in breast cancer cells, then it may also prove effective at stopping the spread of cancer cells in other forms of the disease, such as colon and brain or prostate cancer. ”
However, the researchers point out that while their findings are promising they are not a recommendation for people with breast cancer to smoke marijuana. They say it is highly unlikely that effective concentrations of CBD could be reached by smoking cannabis. And while CBD is not psychoactive it is still considered a Schedule 1 drug. This study was recently published in the journal Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. The study was primarily funded by the California Breast Cancer Research Program.

And hemp does it all with minimal damage to the planet. Yes, this is one eco-conscious crop. Industrial hemp – the name of the utilitarian strain that won’t get you high – is another breed of the infamous cannabis sativa. It has been given the “eco-friendly” label because it has a relatively short growth cycle of 100-120 days (so it’s easily renewable) and the entire plant can be put to productive use. The core of the plant, or the hurd or shive, has been used in the creation of a concretelike substance for the construction of homes. Oil from the seeds is used in beauty products and as a food. And the fibers are used in clothing, rugs and upholstery.

Activists look to decriminalize small amounts of marijuana

“”It uses the drug laws to identify marijuana smokers not who are impaired, but who might have smoked in the past six weeks or so,” Keith Stroup, founder of NORML, a national nonprofit group advocating for the easing of marijuana laws. “If it makes it to the ballot, a lot of people who would be strong supporters of decriminalizing marijuana may not be able to support this fatally flawed language,” said Stroup, who was arrested for smoking a marijuana cigarette at a rally on Boston Common. Longtime marijuana activist Steven Epstein, of the Massachusetts Cannabis Reform Coalition, said the group hasn’t decided if they will support the question. He said under the question, a person who smoked marijuana in a location where it is legal could be fined weeks later after returning to Massachusetts. He pointed to another potential glitch in the ballot question, which equates an ounce of marijuana with an ounce of tetrahydrocannabinol, the active ingredient of the marijuana
