Hernando deputies arrested two men and broke up a significant marijuana-growing operation off Pipit Avenue in the Royal Highlands area Friday. Ovidio Jimenez, 32, the homeowner, and Boris San Martin, 32, face charges of cultivating marijuana, stealing electricity and tampering with an electrical meter, reports state. They also said Jimenez and San Martin had configured the electrical wires to steal more than $50,000 in electricity in a three-month period. Spring Hill man gets 5 years in sex case BROOKSVILLE – A 25-year-old Spring Hill man pled guilty to lewd and lascivious battery charges Friday and was sentenced to five years in prison followed by five years of sex offender probation. Circuit Judge Stephen Rushing also gave Robert Martin orders to not contact the victim, to attend a sex offender treatment program and to abide by a curfew after release. He also granted Martin's request for a recommendation of protective custody in jail because he is legally blind.

Each man then produced a physician’s prescription for cannabis, which they obtained in California — where it is legal to smoke the drug for medicinal purposes, according to a 1996 law. However, authorities say that doesn’t matter in Utah. "Marijuana is illegal in this state.
