Coroner Ian Smith held an inquest on Monday into the death of 33-year-old Carrie-Anne McRae who died of multiple injuries from the single-car crash in Tapawera on April 27. Senior Constable David Hart of Richmond police said Ms McRae’s Toyota left the road at Tapawera and slid into a roadside tree. Ms McRae was taken to hospital by helicopter but died later in Nelson Hospital. A blood sample sent to ESR was found to have a trace of alcohol less than 5mg per 100ml of blood and a cannabis level consistent with having smoked a cannabis cigarette within 30 minutes to six hours prior to death.

Canada should also re-establish a formal process for developing responsible dosing strategies, says Mark Ware of McGill’s University Health Centre, the sole researcher funded under the now defunct Medical Marijuana Research Program (CMAJ 2006; 175:[12]: 1507-8). The 1053 doctors now authorizing marijuana use for 1816 patients need “more evidence” regarding rational dose levels, he says. And Ware suggests the Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoid could lead such an effort. “There is more research, more trials, formulations that could be done,” says Ware. “If we had a couple of days in a room with people and pharmacologists then we could sit around and say, here is the.

LUCIE — Police on Monday shut down an alleged marijuana grow house, making one arrest and uncovering nearly 300 pot plants, according to an arrest affidavit obtained Tuesday. Suarez, 43, was arrested after police searched his home in the 2900 block of Southwest Van Buren Terrace and found 146 pot plants growing in the garage and 148 juvenile plants in a bedroom. Officer Robert Vega, police spokesman, said there’s no indication that the home is related to any of the dozens of others shut down beginning last year. He said investigators learned of the residence through an anonymous tip… Suarez told police he waters the plants, but doesn’t know who owns them or the house. Daynier Rodriguez bought the home in July for $168,000, according to the property appraiser’s Web site. Suarez faces charges of trafficking cannabis, cannabis cultivation, possession of cannabis with intent to sell, theft of utilities and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hui Jin Li is one of 28 people charged with marijuana production for allegedly working on one of Manitoba’s biggest grow operations. The labourers, mostly poor immigrants from Toronto, were promised anywhere from $100 up to $500 a day to work on the farm, which is about 100 kilometre southeast of Winnipeg. They worked from dawn until dusk in a greenhouse on the property and spent the night in sleeping bags on the floor of the tiny, unfurnished house. Li, 47, told court the only plant he is familiar with is a tomato plant, and he didn’t know those on the farm were marijuana. “He didn’t know, he just guessed.
