– Three people were arrested Thursday after detectives busted an elaborate marijuana-growing operation set up inside a new townhouse in a Tamarac development, according to authorities. Two men, Jeffrey Kohn, 22, and Ivan Debiase, 20, were charged with possession and trafficking in marijuana, and Elizabeth Schmidt, 22, was charged with marijuana possession, said the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Detectives said the investigation started about three weeks ago with a tip from a neighbor who suspected drug activity at the two-story townhome at 5756 Royal Way within the upscale Hampton Hills condominium complex.

Police later learned that the duo in the car had allegedly put the 10-year- old child out of the car because they wanted to smoke marijuana out of the child’s presence. Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Mike Allen was dispatched to Highway 11-W near Rogersville Tuesday shortly before noon on a report of a young girl running beside a white Chevrolet Beretta. Allen stated in his report that he caught up with the suspect vehicle on North Brownlow Street, where he conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Donna Carol Reynolds, 47, 301 Stanifer St… ” HCSO Detective Jeff Greer went to the residence and did find the daughter there safe. A computer check of Reynolds revealed her license was suspended in 2002 for failure to satisfy a citation, and she was charged with driving on a suspended license. Testerman was charged with simple possession of marijuana. They are both scheduled for arraignment in Hawkins County Sessions Court on July 2.
