The cannabis diaries
Guardian Unlimited – Mar 17, 2007
William’s grandmother told me before Christmas lunch that William should be with his family. She finds it difficult to accept that he is addicted to cannabis, saying that he’s always been fine with her and that all he needs is tender loving care. So today my husband has gone down to his mother’s to collect William and bring him back home. Every time I think about William being back I get butterflies. Some months ago we bought a safe to put all valuables and cash in. It is like inviting a burglar to live with you… “I will not have my other children upset because of you, do you understand?”"Here we go again,” said William. “I’ve had this since I was 14. You telling me it’s all down to cannabis, when can’t you see it’s the way you treat me that’s the problem? You’re always threatening to throw me out – great, that makes me feel really wanted. Cannabis just isn’t an issue. If you knew just how much everyone else smokes and they don’t fuck up like I do! I won’t sit here and hear you blame cannabis,” he yelled, walking out. I went upstairs later and put my arms round him. He said his life was so awful he couldn’t see the point of any of it.

Bataoil said the driver of the truck, Agustin Agapito, and his 30 passengers were invited to the Sugpon Police Station for questioning. The police official commended his men and the tipster for the confiscation of the illegal plants. “I ordered a no-letup operation against marijuana production and shipment due to previous operation that led to the discovery of several marijuana plantations mostly in the tri-boundary of Ilocos Sur, La Union and Benguet,” said Bataoil. “We cannot afford to let these marijuana leaves reach the people, especially the youngsters. We have to stop the supply from the source itself,” he added.

All inquiries regarding rights should be directed to the Gale Group. I was shocked to read such a nasty letter as the one written by Mrs M McDonogh from Morpeth (“Selfish indulgence”, Voice of the North, March 14). This is the kind of selfish attitude that forces medi users of cannabis like Pat Tabram to speak out. How does Mrs McDonogh suggest Pat and the media handle this unfair prosecution? Tattered Values and Broken Schools
Washington Post – Mar 17, 2007
King, do you have any other explanation of why killer alcohol users lord it over cannabis users? You and your rightwing allies on this issue can stonewall all you want, but sooner or later someone will have to explain why alcohol users are superior to cannabis users. Otherwise marijuana prohibition is blatant and vile alcohol supremacist bigotry. And Im not being off topic. A key antidote to the excessive violence in so many areas of American life is a level playing field between the drug that promotes violence and the drug that doesnt.
