Mioduszewski said not all the plants were mature, but if they hadbeen given enough growing time, they would have had an estimated streetvalue of $42,000. Deputies received information about additional marijuana in theresidence and an additional search warrant was obtained. “The case is still under investigation, but there is no indicationat this point that it is linked to the bust from two weeks ago,”Mioduszewski said Thursday. The sheriff’s department made a similar bust two weeks ago inBroomfield Township. Deputies confiscated 35 mature plants, valued at$35,000. No one has been arrested in connection with the bust.

Investigators say a school resource officer found the 16-year-old with a folding blade knife, pipes used to smoke marijuana and a small amount of marijuana in a bookbag the boy owned. According to deputies, the bag had been left in the guidance office. The boy, who will be prosecuted in family court, was released into his mother’s custody.

Investigators say the next few weeks will be peak time for Marijuana growers to bring in their crops. Marathon County busted six operations last year, the largest, with about 130 plants. Investigators use a lot of methods to track down growers, including tips from neighbors, and hikers and hunters this time of year. if (self['plpm'] && plpm['Mid-Story Ad']) document… But don’t expect to stumble over a field of Marijuana plants. “What they try to do is camouflage the plants as best as possible by having just small groups growing together rather than one large plot,” said Lt. Scott Parks of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department. The plants could be close to a water source, or a road for easy access, but Lt. Parks says they’ve also seen some in city limits.

A police raid on the couple’s Stuart Park unit in May 2005 uncovered marijuana divided into plastic re-sealable bags. Three raids at their unit in 2005 found $88,000 in cash and digital scales. The couple both pleaded guilty to unlawfully possessing a commercial quantity of cannabis and supplying marijuana. McGregor pleaded guilty to having $88,000 derived from the sale of cannabis. The court heard that on May 23, 2005 Laidat-McGregor was caught trying to hand cannabis to a man in her car at The Narrows. A police search of the car found 56. 4g of marijuana and $660 in cash.
