It’s HempShake Party Time At Ojai’s Farmer And The Cook
NPIcenter – NPIcenter (press release) – Apr 20, 2006
- April 18, 2006) In the new millennium, it’s hip to drink hemp- shakes, that is. And the only buzz you’ll get is the one produced by your taste buds when you experience the three new HempShake(TM) flavors to be sampled at a launch party at Ojai’s Farmer and the Cook café on Saturday, April 29, from noon to seven P. “We worked so hard to create the HempShake that the idea of throwing a fun party to celebrate seems perfect,” said Nutiva Founder and CEO John W… The party will feature exotic dancers, including Ojai’s own Jo-Ann Terry, and music by Nathan McEuen and friends. Among the special guests will be artist Johnny Fonteyn; Seed Lady of Watts Anna Marie Carter; and Steve Levine, President of the Hemp Industry Association. Besides sampling the hemp shakes, party guests will enjoy salads and desserts made with hemp oil and hempseed. This is also a bon voyage party for Roulac, who is about to depart on a tour of the company’s American retailers. The Farmer and the Cook, an all-organic store and café at 339 W. El Roblar Drive ( one mile west of Hwy 33 ) in the Meiners Oaks area of Ojai, is co-owned by Steve Sprinkel, Acres USA eco-ag columnist and a 30-year veteran of organic farming. If the Drug Enforcement Agency had had its way, there would be no HempShakes, no Nutiva, and no hemp foods or cosmetics.
Legalization Would Give Tax Dollars for Justice
Daily Nexus – Apr 20, 2006
In this article, it is clearly evident that the thieves committed the robbery in search of marijuana. Why is marijuana related to so many crimes? This is because it is illegal, and it is bought and sold in the midst of crimes on the streets. Also, the truth is, that, ounce for ounce, the price of marijuana is more than the price of gold because of its black market value. As a female college, I feel like this current robbery plants fear in my mind of living in an environment where drug-related robberies and crimes are occurring. This fear truly affects me, and it will continue to affect all UCSB students if there is nothing done to better the current system. If marijuana was completely regulated and taxed, there would be a multitude of benefits for our society. In addition to improving our safety, tax revenues generated by a new system of legal marijuana could be used for education, law enforcement and treatment programs… If you are in favor of lowering tuition while improving our educational system, you should put your vote on GOLD to use. By voting for Daniel “Dank” Komins as your off-campus representative, you will be making an important contribution to our safety. He is running for the Cannabis Coalition, the student party without any blue or green signs. This coalition’s purpose is to make sure UCSB is informing California of the necessity for the taxation of this drug and to provide better education, protection and treatment.
