Cannabis smoke contains seven times more tar and carbonmonoxide, the French National Consumers’ Institute concluded inresearch published in the April edition of its monthlymagazine. The institute tested regular Marlboro cigarettes alongside 280specially rolled joints of cannabis leaves and resin in anartificial smoking machine. The tests examined the content of the smoke for tar and carbonmonoxide, as well as for the toxic chemicals nicotine, benzene andtoluene. “Cannabis smoke contains seven times more tar and carbonmonoxide than tobacco smoke,” the institute’s magazine “60 millionconsumers” said. Someone smoking a joint of cannabis resin rolled with tobaccowill inhale twice the amount of benzene and three times as muchtoluene as if they were smoking a regular cigarette, the studysaid.

Supreme Court ruled against her an Oakland woman is renewing her fight Monday to legally smoke marijuana. Angel Raich will go back before a federal appeals court in Pasadena with a different legal argument. Her lawyers will try to persuade a three-judge panel that keeping her from using medical marijuana unduly burdens her fundamental rights to life and freedom from pain.

The plants which ranged in height from “seedlings to five feet” were found on a “grassland area directly behind the Education Department’s Annex at Cayon Street,” a press release emanating from the Royal St. It also noted that members of the police force made a search of the said area and upon finding the plants, uprooted them and took them into custody.
