”Look at this one!” Less than 10 feet outside her building, a man with a shaved head was bending over a scrawny sapling and rummaging in the grass at its base. When he straightened up, he held a small plastic bag in his hands. ”I think today it’s marijuana,” the woman said. ”Marijuana or crack. They keep it at the bottom of the tree. When somebody’s coming to buy, they pick it up from there. ” How often did this happen? ”Every 10 minutes,” she replied.

Traverse City voters will consider Nov. 8 a proposal that would make the possession or use of marijuana for medical reasons “the lowest law enforcement priority of the city. ” Along with the medical marijuana initiative, the ballot has two charter amendment proposals that ask if the mayor’s and council members’ annual salaries should be increased to $8,142. sellers permit, allowing them to collect sales tax, without
indicating whether their merchandise is lawful to sell. “We didn’t
want to inadvertently be in the position of putting medicinal
marijuana dealers in a trouble spot,” said an official of San
Francisco. Currently, some retailers of medical marijuana are
registered and pay tax, while others are not… Under the new policy businesses can get what is known as a

want to inadvertently be in the position of putting medicinal

dispensary in Santa Cruz last month. “Most of us want to
comply with the law and do all we should as a regular business,”
said Molyneux.

The marijuana was cleaned and ready for sale in 104 one-pound bags. Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said the estimated street value of the pot is $500,000. "It looked to be high quality and would have a good, strong street value," Winters said. Investigators are still trying to determine where the marijuana came from and where it was going.
