Drug chargeA 27-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Thursday by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony drug offense, three other felonies and three misdemeanors. Police also discovered that Larenz Earl Suggs of Brock Street had used another person’s name when he was arrested. Suggs was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, financial identity fraud, forgery and uttering. He also was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, driving while his license was revoked and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond. Suggs was accused of using the name of Yuante DeBois Smith, 27, of Creech Street on Wednesday when he was arrested. Charges of felony and misdemeanor marijuana possession against Smith were dismissed Thursday in Wayne County District Court.

Five women from the same family and two unrelated men were arrested in the Adelaide raids. Police said about $60,000 of cash, and quantities of heroin and cannabis, and substances believed to be ecstasy and steroids, were seized in the raids on 10 Adelaide houses. Three Victorian properties were raided but no arrests or seizures were made. About 100 police in both states took part in the operation which was the culmination of a two-month investigation sparked by a series of heroin overdoses, some of them fatal, in Adelaide in recent months. “This came about because of a probe conducted by the drug and organised crime (squad), relative to a number of overdoses that had resulted in deaths as well as hospitalisation,” Inspector Trevor Jenkins of SA Police said. “We looked carefully at the heroin trade and believe that we have targeted some people who are significantly involved in that trade… “We looked carefully at the heroin trade and believe that we have targeted some people who are significantly involved in that trade. ”

The five women, whom police allege were the ringleaders of the drug ring, were charged with taking part in the sale of heroin and other drug offences.
