Christopher Chin, 23, Jason Morrison, 26, and Shaun Jackenheimer, 25, all of Largo, were each charged with one count of felony possession of cannabis and one count of possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Derek Swinski, 21, of Clearwater was visiting friends at the residence in the 600 block of Fourth Avenue NE when officers arrived and found him smoking marijuana, Slaughter said. (AP) – Two men are in jail and being held on immigration charges after police seized 55 pounds of marijuana early yesterday. 23-year-old Cosme Damian Mendiola, of Phoenix, and 25-year-old Santos Isaac Bravo-Valdez, of Carson City, Nevada, were charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana and conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance. Michigan State police initiated the investigation during a traffic stop on Interstate 94 near the Indiana border. Detectives were later led to the suspects at a Grand Haven hotel. Police also seized two vehicles.

Authorities say they seized 23 hockey bags full of marijuana — weighing 900 to 1,000 pounds — from the back of a van one of the men was driving.
