The Drug and Alcohol Services Information System (DASIS) report found that 58 percent of all marijuana treatment admissions in 2002 resulted from referrals from the criminal-justice system, compared to 48 percent in 1992. The report also found that those admitted to treatment from non-criminal-justice sources were more likely to be daily users of marijuana and other drugs, such as alcohol, cocaine, opiates, or other substances. Marijuana and stimulant users were more likely to be referred to treatment from criminal-justice sources than users of alcohol, cocaine, or opiates. It was not known if any of the victims lived at the home. Friday in the 300 block of Higate Drive after the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force and the Daly City police found the house filled with more than 220 marijuana plants ranging from 6 inches to 3 feet tall, according to the news release from the two law enforcement agencies. The marijuana found in the home has a street value of about $700,000, the release said. The plants were discovered after officers from the Daly City Police Department went to the home to serve an arrest warrant on someone living at the home. When they knocked on the front door, they heard movement inside the home. When no one answered, they saw the two suspects running from the rear of the house into the backyard bushes, according to the release. Ng and Yeung told the officers that they had nothing to do with the home and were detained as officers went through an unlocked back door to investigate the possibility of a burglary at the home…
They found that the house had been transformed into a nursery for marijuana plants with an extensive system of irrigation, ventilation and lighting. The San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force was called in and obtained a search warrant. The marijuana plants and the equipment, along with an air filtering system were seized, the release said. When the suspects’ home in Pacifica was searched, authorities found evidence of connections to the Daly City home and the marijuana operation, the release said. Ng, a self-employed gardener, and Yeung, a cashier, were booked into San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City on $100,000 bail and will be arraigned today at 1:30 p. They face charges of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and manufacture, maintaining a place to grow or sell, conspiracy to cultivate and possess marijuana for sale, vandalism in excess of $400 and grand theft of electrical service over $400.
Tests Show Marijuana in Baby’s System

Police say the girl’s mother took the baby to the hospital for testing after the child visited her father this weekend. The father lives in Tail County. Both parents tested negative for marijuana. Police say this is the second time in a couple of weeks that the baby tested positive.
